Should English Majors Study Maths?

     Recent years, the argument on whether English majors study maths is being hotter and hotter. Different people have different ideas. A part of public believe that math shouldn't be learned by English majors because it's so formidable and useless that hardly of this major students wonder to learn. Nevertheless, I hold the opposite opinion that students studied English should also know math.

      Most of English learners,especially girls, are extremely scared of math. To escape this subject, they always put the reason this way: an language learner has little use for math, so he shouldn't put much emphasis on  math. However, have you ever seen an outstanding person just spending his whole days devoting into one major? The wold-wide-known person Aristotle was famous for his knowledgeable. Let us image, if he have insisted in just one subject but giving up others, would he be well-known for all over the world? Nowadays, a great number of companies are seeking for those talents with rich knowledge. If we were well-done in both English and math, shouldn't it become our advantage?

     On the other hand, a university is not a technical training school but a education school. Students in universities are being told for comprehensive knowledge including language, literature, philosophy, science and so on. As an undergraduate majored in English, it can't harmful over learning mathematics which let us more rational and elegant. For English students, English may be used as a method to earn living, but math can be treated as an interest that can boost the quality of life.

     It goes without saying that people proficient in both English and math should be better developed than those concentrated on English. Despite the difficulties of learning math, we should pursue the breakthroughs in our lives. English majors should study maths.

Nevertheless, I hold the opposite opinion that students studied English should also know math.

Let us image, if he have insisted in just (only) one subject but giving up others, would he be well-known for all over the world (his cogniton and capablity are substandard).Nowadays, a great number of companies are seeking for those talents with rich knowledge (generalists). If we were well-done in both English and math, shouldn't it become our advantage?

  On the other hand, a university is not ^onlya ^{place for} technical training school but a education school (a place for entirety development) .Students in universities are being told for comprehensive knowledge including language, literature, philosophy, science and so on. As an undergraduate majored in English, it can't harmful over (can be good to) learning mathematics which let us more rational and elegant. For English students, English may be used as a method (implement) to earn living, but math can be treated as an interest (entertainment) that can boost the quality of life.
