 As an excellent lecturer,Obama had delivered speeches to audience large and small.His speeches were always powerful and thoughtful,which were characteristic of the proper and appropriate utilization of figures of speech.in the speech a more perfect union,Obama applies much parallelism and antithesis to strengthening the persuasion of lecture.parallelism which is one of the most useful ways of increasing  the power of language in speech and ensures that the attention of audience is  not be distracted can be found almost everywhere in this speech.Obama listed the disparities that African American suffered like achievement gap between students , wealth income gap and erosion of black families to indicate that racial discrimination and segregation were and are really in existence,having caused the anger of black.It was also applied to show the resentment of white people.While antithesis highlights the theme of Obama’s speech--unity for perfecting the union.For example,we may not have come from the same place,but we all want to move in the same direction.T he contrast between “come from “and “move in” is effective in bringing out the idea of unity and putting a emphasis on the importance of unity.other writing skills also add much compliment to this lecture.in terms of echo,Obama cites the preamble to the U.S. Constitution,the sacred document like bible,to appeal to the audiences and then brings the sign of the Constitution back echoing the beginning,which make the whole speech completion.

Additionally,the real instances applied in his speech also win the trust of voters over.political speeches were always filled with falsehood whereas Obama’s a more perfect union tell audiences his personal touches,the kindness of reverend wright and story of white girl Ashley’s organizing campaign to prove the possibility that American dream is not bubble and racism can be solved .The honest and genuine affectionate close the distance between speaker and addressee.The optimism and faith rooted in the speech promote confidence of audiences and the nation.Not just American people but people all over the world are affected by the “American Dream” embodied in Obama,that is freedom,equality ,opportunity and confidence,for American dream is not exclusive to American but rooted in human beings’ dignity and right.

Furthermore,this speech also make me think deeply about the division and unity of a country.A country should safeguard its sovereignty resolutely and citizen work hand in hand to  achieve  national prosperity.

All in all, through reading and studying this speech, I had a deeper and more comprehensive understanding about Obama and his speeches and also learned many practical speech skills from the talented speaker.
