Along with the process of globalization, Chinese and western exchange have a simultaneous strengthening. Under such circumstances, film plays a role that a important carrier of culture and a tool for entertainment in international communication. Therefore, the export and import of film has increasingly become a common phenomenon. More and more Chinese films begin to aim at overseas market and step into foreign audiences’ lives. However, because of differences between languages, if foreign audiences would like to watch Chinese film, then most audiences can just understand and appreciate the Chinese films completely by subtitles. Films subtitle translation is to improve the understandability and comprehensibility of the subtitles for target audiences. Consequently, good subtitle translation becomes more and more important. 

    On the one hand, good subtitle translation can make audiences appreciate Chinese films very well by seeing subtitles. If audiences like watching Chinese films, then Chinese films will create high box office value at overseas market. On the other hand, through watching Chinese films, the foreign audiences can have a deep perception of Chinese cultures. Good subtitle let foreign audiences understand Chinese culture easily. It can set up a bridge of the cultural gap between China and western countries or areas, and then achieve the purpose of cross-cultural communication.
