【SUMMARY】:
This article is about the rencent Connecticut mass shooting, this is hot topic all around the world .This incident has also raised people’s concern about the legislation of gun ownership in America, and there are several proposals mentioned to avoid mass shooting, while at the same time, allowing citizens to arm themselves for self-protection, using economics. The federal ban of gun use in was once signed into law in 1994, however this legislation didn’t take much of the credit as to take both the two concerns into account because the guns made before 1994 are exempted, many of which are still legal to own or sell. Using economic ways, there are three proposals intended to have a try on decreacing gun violence in the USA, Through incentives.Tax the bullets-it will make the bullets prohibitively expensive if citizens want to use a lot of them, and for self-protection you maynot need to many. Require gun users to buy liability insurance-to set up national or state-by-state gun registries and liscening machanisims, however to require gun ownership liability would cause the insurers to decide by themselves whom they would like to provide guns for, and gun safety traing is consequensively necessary. Gun purchase programs-follwing the case of Australia, to force citizens to sell the machine guns. The voluntary gun buyback programs have achieved varous degrees of success in several cities but this proposal is also not fully practical in America, it won’t stop the fun flow in crime-ravaged urban areas. All of these policies have ther deficiencies, gun using is well cherished in this country, there is not a easy solution to this issue that will be perfect for all people.
【RESPONSE】:
There is much difference beteen the America situation of gun using and that I knew before I read this article. The existing guns in the USA is enough to arm every citizens! Guns are always considered by all people to be dangerous things, when we were children, we played with toy guns very often, however we have seldom imagined we could have a real gun! Guns are always seen used by police of ciminals on TV, and the danger in the screen is far from real life. America has a different culture, Gun ownership is well cherished by American people for generations. They need guns for self-protection, but such tragedies must happen every other year, people start to worry.
A similar tragedy happened in Henan Province at almost the same time on Dec.18th in China, but it doesn’t arouse much concern. The diffrence lies in that the criminal used a kinfe rather than a machine gun, injurying 23th kids in a primary school. What if he used a gun? There will be 23 young kids dead intead of injured. In terms of this, gun ownership being illegal in China should be appretiated by every citizen. My opinion is that guns should be get rid of from normal family, even if in America, I hope someday, it will become a gun-free society, as long as the USA government could manage to achieve it.
