    眼前的万亩湿地是在2009年的11月26日动工建设的，一期工程完成了15公里河底围堰整理、碎石路面整平、逆水面植草、护坡砖铺建，还修建了2座景观桥、4座拦水坝、8座溢流坝、2处跌水池、32个湖心岛，共栽植大树3776棵、山桃树83棵，杞柳98.2万株、荷花莲藕12.3万株、芦苇594万株、香蒲164万株。目前，武河湿地二期工程也已经开始建设。该工程从江风口分洪闸到蒋史汪橡胶坝，长5000米，面积5000亩，一次性蓄水量215万立方米。规划建设中央公园、鸟类公园、湿地植物园、湿地探索园、湿地生产园、湿地休闲度假区和沂河休闲度假区各1处，各类建筑物总建筑面积1.5万平方米。

    武河湿地公园承担着湿地生态调节、改善水质、涵养水源、湿地保护、生态教育、湿地水处理和生态风景观赏的职能，对改善人居环境，提升城市品位，构建生态文化，促进人与自然和谐，也都具有重大意义。

   “飞鸟成群、野禽嬉戏，水面轻风、波光粼粼，水柳新芽、野果飘香，鱼翔浅底、百花齐放”。这是来此观光者对武河湿地最好的赞誉。
